:: Building Committee Report
05/14/2005
-On March 11, 2005, the Building Committee met with the architect firm “Chris Dikeakos Architects Inc.” (CDA) to discuss the designs of the new rectory adjacent to the Church and the new gymnasium which will be built adjoining the school building -Through March and April, the CDA did site research and developed the early design concept. -On April 29, 2005 the parish representative and CDA met with officials of the City of Vancouver to discuss the early concept design and the approval process for our building project. The initial meeting with City officials went well because the project generally fits within what is allowed to be built on the sites. However, the City officials expect and will get further details as the design progresses. The process to get City Hall approval for the project requires that we discuss our concept with our neigbours before the design is completed so that we can consider any suggestions they may have about the design. -On May 2, 2005 the parish hand delivered letters to invite the neighbours who reside in the area bounded by East 22nd Avenue on the south, Knight Street on the west, East 12th Avenue on the north and Commercial Drive/Victoria Diversion on the east for an Open House on Monday May 16, 2005 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the School Gymnasium. Neighbours are invited to drop in for information and to give their input on the project before the design is completed. The architects, traffic consultant and Building Committee will be present to explain the concept design We sincerely invite the parishioners who reside in the neighbourhood consultation area described above to come to the Open House to show their support for the Project. The design is at an early stage now. More details will be added over the next six weeks. We would like to ask everyone to continue to pray for a successful outcome of our Project Also a major contribution from the Project Advance will be rebated to our Parish for the building Project, please continue to support the Project Advance.
